Feb. 28 Pinnacles Sat. 3C (14 miles, 2800 ft.). Moderately paced loop through the scenic North Wilderness and High Peaks areas of Pinnacles NM. Expect splendid wildflower displays and several easy stream crossings in the seldom visited north wilderness section. We will finish by walking and scrambling among the dramatic high peaks that gave Pinnacles its name. Meet at Hwy. 85 and Cottle Rd. P&R at 7 a.m. or at the Chaparral parking area (westside) in Pinnacles at 8:30. Heavy rain cancels. New day hikers should call the leader prior to the hike. Leader: Richard Vassar.

Evidence of pig-eradication efforts was hard to avoid.
Tom showed up with a blonde.
A new bridge is under construction near the Chalone picnic area. Water was flowing abundantly in places we weren't used to seeing it.
Rich's family spread a fine table but we didn't leave until we'd cleaned them out.
