April 12 Sat 3C DAY HIKE to Steep Ravine Cabins Rocky Pt Beach Depart 9 AM SHARP Old Mill Park (Directions below) Hike from Old Mill Park and climb the famous Dipsea steps, following the route of the second oldest foot race in the US down to Muir Woods. We leave the Dipsea Trail at Steep Ravine and hike along the creek across Highway 1 to Steep Ravine Cabins. Lunch is at the picnic tables overlooking the cliffs and ocean, with spectacular rock chimneys. We return up Steep Ravine, enjoying the ladder in route, and return by Troop 80 and the high Ridge route. 13 miles + 3000'. Back byn 4:30 PM. Rain cancels.

Then down to the Muir Woods Dipsea display.
Snack on the serpentine in bloom.

The cold dark shade was starting to feel good.
Lunch in the sun at Rocky Point. Below us spear fishermen labored with some success.
If you have to go uphill on a hot day, you could do worse than Steep Ravine.
Let's rest again - at Pan Toll and Mountain Home.

The home stretch along the Panoramic Trail back to the Dipsea steps. Now I remember why I live here.
