Pt Reyes (Five Brooks) - Saturday 4C. Join us for a wonderful hike that will take us to the beach for lunch by a waterfall and great views on the way back. Optional dinner afterwards. Must call leaders if you have not hiked with the group before. Meet at 7:15 am at the Edgewood Road and 280 Park & Ride. Leader: Fran Allen.

Later we were joined by the remnant survivors of
San Francisco to Point Reyes - Saturday 6E. An early start in San Francisco coupled with a fast pace over 27 miles of spectacular trail and road will bring us to the Five Brooks Trailhead at Point Reyes. Limit 9. Call leaders for more info. Leaders: Dot Reilly and Leighton Nakata.

This outing started off well with hundreds of attractive participants, not at all like the usual DHS crowd. However most were too lightly clad for Pt Reyes in the summer and dropped out within a hundred yards or so.

Too bad, they would have looked good at Alamere Falls, where we even surprised Ron Karpel who was photographing there and wasn't expecting us or them. The falls were in fine form, but we missed out on swimming in Bass Lake as we were due to serve watermelon to the long-distance hikers.

But they were twenty minutes late and so just got the leftovers. Too bad, the lightly dressed newcomers had left just minutes before the long-distance hikers arrived.

We consoled ourselves with our elderly vices at the Amsterdam cafe in Fairfax.
